    Description:

    The camp is located on the shores of beautiful Lac de L'achigan in Saint-Hippolyte. We are an English summer camp that welcomes about 100 young people from 6 to 17 years old. The majority of our campers are followed in youth protection. Camp Weredale offers these young people a safe and beautiful environment in which they can be close to nature, create lifelong friendships and hopefully begin to heal.

    One of two Assistant Directors

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • To oversee the general operation of the Health and Safety Center.
    • To attend to the health and first aid needs of campers and staff.
    • To provide the proper care in emergency situations.
    • To manage all prescribed drugs and over the counter medication required by campers.
    • To participate in relevant pre-camp training and orientation.
    • To play an active role in promoting a positive and constructive camp environment.
    • To maintain adequate health and medical equipment and supplies for the Health and Safety Center by taking regular inventory and ordering as required.
    • To follow the guidelines concerning medication storage and distribution as outlined in the Health Services Manual.
    • To maintain the Health and Safety Center in a clean proper order.
    • To fill out all necessary incident and medical reports and keep all files in order.
    • To be aware of all specific medical circumstances particular to campers in attendance. To be responsible for the safe keeping of all campers’ Medicare cards.
    • To ensure proper staff assistance for campers or staff to the hospital when necessary.
    • To write a year end evaluative report containing any suggestions or recommendations for the following summer.
    • To attend all scheduled staff meetings and participate in formal and informal supervision.
    • To respect all camp policies, procedures, guidelines and rules.
    • To perform all other related tasks as requested by the immediate supervisor.

    Requirements:

    • Must have post-secondary study in a related field (nursing, paramedic etc.) and or / CPR First Aid training.
    • Experience working in a camp setting would be considered an asset.
    • Must have excellent communication skills.
    • Must have the ability to relate to children.
    • Must be comfortable in, and respectful of, a group living environment.
    • Must be punctual and capable of respecting a camp preset schedule.
    • Must be capable of respecting confidentially regarding camper medical, behavioral issues and family history.

    Salary Offered:

    3 000 to 3 500 $

    Employment Status:

    Summer, full-time, day, evening, weekend. Transportation, lodging, and food are included at Camp Weredale during the stay.

    June 17, 2023, to August 18, 2023.
