    Job Description:

    Since 1934, Camp Weredale has offered a sleepaway camp program to vulnerable youth. It is located on the shores of the beautiful Lac de L'Achigan in Saint-Hippolyte and offers exciting learning opportunities and enjoyable outdoor activities to six to seventeen-year old boys and girls. The majority of our campers are receiving supportive social services and / or are facing family challenges. Camp Weredale offers these young people a safe and beautiful living environment close to nature in which they can learn new skills, create long-term friendships and gain a positive outlook on life.Camp Weredale is searching for dynamic staff who enjoy working with youth, can effectively engage them in activities and are looking for a fun, exciting learning opportunity this summer. 

    Responsibilities:

      • To participate in pre-camp training and orientation.
      • To play an active role in promoting a positive and constructive camp environment.
      • To ensure the safety and security of all campers between the hours of 23:00 and 7:30 throughout each camp session.
      • To be stationed on the hut line awake throughout the night.
      • To ensure all campers are safely in their cabin.
      • To patrol the area around the hut line and bathrooms every 15 minutes.
      • To contact the Director or designate when there are issues at night that they cannot resolve by themselves.
      • To attend all scheduled staff meetings and participate in formal and informal supervision with Camp Directors.
      • To respect all camp policies, procedures, guidelines and rules.
      • To perform all other related tasks as requested by the immediate supervisor.

    Requirements:

        • Must be able to stay awake throughout the night.
        • Must have the capacity to work with a minimum of supervision.
        • Must be trustworthy and reliable.
        • Must be emotionally mature and willing to accept responsibility.
        • Must have excellent communication skills.
        • Must have the ability to relate to children.
        • Must be comfortable in, and respectful of, a group living environment.
        • Must be punctual and capable of respecting a camp preset schedule.
        • Belief in the individual worth of the camper.
        • Must be capable of respecting confidentially regarding camper medical, behavioural issues and family history.

    Employment Status:

    Summer, full-time, day, evening, weekend. Transportation, lodging, and food are included at Camp Weredale during the stay.
